Hey there! Welcome to our website! It's a wonderful place dedicated to the one of the best dogs in the world, the one we all know and love, the Bloodhound. While the Bloodhound may not be as well known as the Golden Retriever in the household or the German Shepherd in the military or even the Chihuahua in a handbag, their special characters have made them an essential part of history in the Western World. Renowned for their noses, Bloodhounds as a breed hold a special place in history as trackers and hunters and continue their work in the present as pets and police dogs. In order to understand the vibrant history of the Bloodhound itself and how it intersects with the history of humanity as a whole, we will be looking all the way back into the history of dogs and wolves and into the future to the modern world of pets and McGrufff the crime dog. We'll be talking about everything from their origins, why and how they were domesticated, how they have been used by humans, to the biology behind domestication and breeding as well as physical and social characteristics, going so far as to examine the modern iteration of bloodhounds and the role they play in popular culture.
Our goal of this website is to give you, the reader, some information on the Bloodhound you might not have known. Bloodhounds are misunderstood creatures and we think that is a shame. So we're going to break down some misconceptions or beliefs that may you have about them. We are going to explore the fascinating history of not just the bloodhound, but of the dog in general and the role that they play in human history. It would be impossible to understand the bloodhound without understand the greater species and timeframe in which the breed fits into. Another one of our aims of this website is to demonstrate how a Little Big History works. We'll be zooming in and out between past, present, future and all the room in between. To go along with that, our perspectives will change as we utilize different viewpoints, from the highly scientific to the anthropological, from the perspectives of an owner to how bloodhounds are portrayed in media. In short, this website will give an expansive overview of how dogs like the bloodhound have affected the lives of humans throughout history and their importance in the future. Well enough talk already! We're sure you want to get going and are so excited to visit the rest of the website! Here's how we intended our website to flow, but by no means do you have to go in order: Really like all the stuff we had to say? Want to read more? Just want to check our sources? There's a link for that too!
